One of five teenage suspects in the videotaped beating of a central Florida classmate is being held on bond and is facing several aggravated assault charges in an unrelated case.  This story goes back to April when I first heard about it on Fox News.  What has gone wrong that kids would break the law by beating a person and then put it on You Tube for the whole world to see.  Where has our society broken down and no you can’t just blame video games?

Athlete says sports steroids changed him from woman to man. Interesting article about the German Democratic Republic and what they did to their athletes to become Olympic champions.  The United States has their own stories of course, but what is it about athletics that seems to be so alluring as far as how far someone will go to be the best.  Athletics programs in college bring in huge amounts of money but why?  I will admit that there are lessons to be learned in athletics but why does the tail wag the dog in education so often?  The article goes on to say that gene doping is the next thing in cheating can the monster of Frankenstein be far behind?

With a full load of classes, two young children and her bills piling up, Michelle decided to face her economic straits in a pretty unorthodox way. As the nation’s economy is slumping, some fertility clinics say interest in donating has surged.  If you get money for it how can the reporter call it donating?  Bad teaching of just the reporter not thinking?  Helping someone have a child is a wonderful thing but are we starting the course to building super children and how do we stop the two paths from merging or should we?  I think we should but ????

Durham agreed to plead guilty to murder — but only if he could get a break from jail food. The judge agreed and granted Durham a feast of KFC chicken, Popeye’s chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, carrot cake and ice cream.

After Wednesday’s sentencing, Durham was to get the rest of the deal — calzones, lasagna, pizza and ice cream, his defense attorney confirmed. They will pay the tab.  Can anyone figure out who they is that is going to pay the tab?  When did money figure into doing the right thing or has it always been that way with our judicial system?  All of this because a company got him what he ordered and then he decided he didn’t want it and the company wouldn’t take it back.  Too many people change their mind in this country and expect to get out of deals for free.

Pennsylvania Sexual Assault Suspect Lists ‘Rape’ As Interest on Web Page.   That was the headline that caught my eye the other day.  The article goes on to say- A MySpace page evidently belonging to Bengtsson lists his interests as “Poker, serial murder, rape, torture, etc.” Among his heroes, according to the site: “child molesters” and serial killer Ted Bundy. Sebastianelli said police were examining the page.   If you list these interest shouldn’t that throw up a red flag somewhere?  I know you can’t arrest someone on interest but maybe we could be watching him a little closer.  He goes on to rape a 14-year-old girl.  He even gives her the choice or killing him or having sex with him.  She refused both so he raped her.  Yes Education needs to get to the 21st century and beyond but society needs to be fixed somehow.

Commentary: Don’t confuse immigrant victims with villains.  This goes back to the Luis Ramirez beating death by teenagers.  He says a handful of people thought he got what he deserved by being here illegally.  Since when does two wrongs make a right?  If you run a stop sign in front of me I can beat you, you broke the law???? Navarrette goes on to explain why he didn’t mention another killing by an illegal and does it very well thus the title of his article.  He also mentions that San Francisco will not cooperate with the federal authorities on immigration matters.  Why aren’t they forced to?  Are they their own country?  They need to get some common sense going there but then is it going anywhere?

Congress Shuts Down ‘Insane’ College Financial Aid for Sex Offenders- I have nothing against someone learning a new trade to help society but this is usually not the group of people that have no trade.  It goes on to say that some bought clothes and DVD players with the money.  As far as the biggest waste well Congress has wasted a lot of money haven’t they?

There are more new cases of Americans infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, than previously believed, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Saturday. About 56,000 people became infected with HIV in the past year, which translates to about 40 percent more cases than officials had estimated, said Dr. Kevin Fenton, director of the CDC’s National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention.

Wilson said the numbers were especially startling considering that the United States lacked the infrastructure to handle 40,000 new HIV cases each year.  How could this happen my God we are a world power and lack in general health care for our sick.

Now, with the numbers as high as 56,000 a year, it’s even worse, he said.

Sex offender’s bond revoked after year of freedom

A former Florida teacher, who for a year avoided serving a 43-year sentence for sexually molesting a 13-year-old boy, was handcuffed and ordered back into state custody Friday.

She said Gold had no jurisdictional discretion to rule in the case. The case is in Florida’s appellate courts, which should rule on whether the bond is legitimate, she said.

Gold disagreed. He blamed the defense for giving him “misinformation” at the 2007 bond hearing.

“There’s no question that the information given to me was incorrect,” Gold said. “Given the severity of the sentencing, I’m revoking this bond.”

Tom Blomberg, dean of the College of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida State University, said granting the bond was a mistake.

An interesting article on the beating death of Louis Ramrez.  Hate is learned at home we must be careful what we say when we listen to the news, talk at the table, or just plain interact with our children.  Hate starts at home and can end at home if we want it to.  Another group of teenagers beating on someone that was different. Excerpts from the article. That’s nonsense. America has a long tradition of animosity toward legal immigrants, let alone illegal ones. The undocumented are preyed upon by thugs, cheated by swindlers, exploited by employers, harassed by Minutemen, and made into scapegoats for society’s ills by opportunistic talk radio blowhards and cable news fear-peddlers.

Authorities now allege that the thugs who beat Luis shouted racial and ethnic epithets. They’ve charged 16-year-old Brandon J. Piekarsky and 17-year-old Colin J. Walsh as adults with homicide and 18-year-old Derrick M. Donchak with aggravated assault. All three were charged with ethnic intimidation. Another juvenile, whom police haven’t named, was charged with assault, and police are continuing to investigate.
